Welcome Message from the Assistant Director

Dear Colleagues,

Welcome to the EARCOS website!  We are a vibrant and rapidly growing organization serving the professional development needs of our 175 member schools, including 140,000 students, and 16,000 teachers and administrators.  As we continue to expand, we work diligently to maintain our commitment to provide the best quality professional development and support for the educators in our region.

EARCOS is currently in a transition period.  In February, we dealt with the untimely death of our long-serving Executive Director, Dr. Richard Krajczar,  who was due to retire in July of 2019. We now look forward to August, when Dr. Ed Greene, formerly the director of the International School of Amsterdam takes over the EARCOS helm and leads us toward an exciting future.

Our two major conferences for the 2019-2020 academic year are fully scheduled with a host of thought-provoking speakers and workshops conducted by many of our own experienced practitioners.  The 51st EARCOS Leadership Conference will take place in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia from October 31 - November 2. Keynote speakers include Graham Martin-Brown, Carlene Firmin, and Will Richardson.

The 2020 EARCOS Teachers’ Conference will be held at the Shangri La Hotel in Bangkok from March 26-28.  This conference will offer excellent professional development in the areas of science, math, technology, computer science, humanities, service learning and global competency. Scheduled keynote speakers include Rick Wormeli, Lindy Elkins-Tanton, and Candida Snow.

Please review the list of EARCOS-sponsored events elsewhere on the website under the heading Professional Learning Weekends.  There are over 50 PLWs scheduled for the coming school year. Last year over 1500 teachers took advantage of these professional development opportunities.

EARCOS is all about communication.  Please stay connected with us by reading the EARCOS Triannual Journal, checking the website, reading our email notifications, our  E-Connect blog, and Twitter.

We look forward to seeing you at an EARCOS event in 2019-2020.
