MAKE THE CALL! Verifying References: An Essential Practice for International School Leaders

International Taskforce on Child Protection
International schools face a unique set of challenges when it comes to hiring qualified and trustworthy individuals to work with children. The need for qualified and experienced teachers and leaders is paramount, but so is the responsibility of ensuring the safety and well-being of every individual working with children. Unfortunately, many school leaders are still not conducting thorough reference check calls during the hiring process, posing significant risks to the safety and development of children and the school community.

Training for School Child Protection Team Members: Level I (Synchronous)

This training is recommended for all Child Protection (CP) team members. CP teams are comprised of child protection designates and deputies, senior leaders and designated board members, counselors, HR professionals, athletic and activity directors, nurse/medical staff, and staff with special child protection responsibilities including IT, social emotional learning (SEL), trips/service learning, and curriculum areas of vulnerability including early years, special needs/SEN, athletics, music, and performing arts.

Inclusive Leadership Program

The purpose of this 18-month, EARCOS-sponsored program is to build deep understanding and skills in teaching a neurodiverse population. The intent is for school leaders and teacher leaders, in turn, to develop such strong faculty capacity and collective self- efficacy in their schools that there is no longer a question of whether a wider diversity of needs can be met within the school.
